Log-a-Dog Privacy Policy

Log-a-Dog is made by Magician Labs. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app on Android or iOS.

Information you add to the app

You may choose to record:

• Dog names, breeds, encounter dates, ratings, notes, friendship progress, achievements and statistics.

• Optional owner information and social handles.

• Photos you take or select.

• Encounter locations when you use location features.

Please avoid entering sensitive information about other people or including people, faces, licence plates, addresses or private property details in photos without appropriate permission.

Camera, photos and location

The app accesses your camera, photo library and device location when you choose features that require them and grant the relevant permissions.

Location may be precise or approximate, depending on your device settings and permissions. It is used to position the map or record an encounter location. Log-a-Dog does not request background location tracking.

You can manage camera, photo and location permissions in your device settings. Some features may be unavailable when permission is declined.

Local storage

Dog records, photos, preferences and purchase status are stored on your device.

You can remove individual records or use the app’s data-deletion controls. Uninstalling the app normally removes its local app data, although device backups and operating-system restoration may affect what is retained or restored.

Deleting local data or uninstalling the app does not, by itself, delete your account or cloud save.

Optional accounts and cloud save

You can use the core dog-logging features without an account. Sign-in is optional and enables cloud save and restoration.

Depending on your platform, you can sign in using Google or Sign in with Apple. Firebase Authentication and the selected provider may supply account information such as your user ID, display name, email address, profile image URL and sign-in status.

If you use Apple’s Hide My Email option, the email address supplied may be an Apple private relay address.

When cloud save is active, dog records—including notes, saved encounter locations and optional owner information or social handles—can be stored in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore and restored on another signed-in device.

Dog photos remain on your device and are not included in Log-a-Dog’s cloud save in this version.

Using different sign-in providers may create separate accounts unless those accounts have been linked.

Analytics

After you accept the app’s privacy notice, Log-a-Dog may send usage events to Firebase Analytics. Examples include app launches, screen changes, dog logging, photo additions, achievements, sign-in status, sound settings and advertising status.

The custom analytics events sent by Log-a-Dog are designed to exclude dog names, owner names, social handles, notes, photos, exact GPS coordinates, diagnostic stack traces and account email addresses.

Firebase Analytics may separately process app-instance identifiers, device information, app interactions and other technical information according to its configuration and Google’s policies. These custom-event exclusions do not mean that analytics collects no personal or device information.

Advertising and consent

Log-a-Dog displays advertising through Google AdMob.

Google and its advertising partners may process information such as device or advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP address, app activity, ad impressions, ad interactions and diagnostic information to deliver ads, measure performance, limit repeated ads and prevent fraud.

The advertising features available depend on your region, device settings, applicable consent requirements and the app’s configuration. Where required, you will be presented with advertising consent choices.

Where available, you can revisit those choices through Ad privacy options in the app. You can also manage advertising and tracking permissions in your device settings.

On iOS, tracking across other companies’ apps or websites requires your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency system. Including this explanation in the policy does not grant that permission.

Non-personalised ads may still involve processing data for ad delivery, reporting, frequency limits and fraud prevention.

Ad-free purchases

An optional one-time ad-free purchase is available through Google Play on Android or Apple’s App Store on iOS.

The relevant store processes your payment. Magician Labs does not receive your payment-card details. Log-a-Dog processes purchase or transaction information and stores purchase status to enable ad-free access and support restoration.

Purchases are associated with the relevant store account. A Google Play purchase cannot currently be restored through Apple’s App Store, or vice versa.

Diagnostics

The app may keep a small local diagnostics log containing technical errors, app version, platform, screen name and browser or WebView details.

This log is not automatically uploaded by Log-a-Dog. You choose whether to copy and share a diagnostics report. If you contact support, we process the information you provide to investigate and respond.

Sharing

When you use a sharing feature, the information or image you choose is passed to the app or service you select. That service handles it under its own privacy policy.

Service providers

Log-a-Dog uses third-party services, including:

• Google Firebase for authentication, analytics and cloud storage.

• Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple for optional authentication.

• Google AdMob and advertising partners for advertising.

• Google Play and Apple’s App Store for distribution and purchases.

• Map-tile and breed-image providers for maps and images.

These services may receive information needed to fulfil requests, including IP addresses, device information, account identifiers and requested map areas or images.

Information may be processed outside your country, including where providers operate their infrastructure. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Magician Labs does not sell your personal information. Information is processed by service providers to operate the app, provide analytics and advertising, maintain security and meet legal obligations.

Deletion and retention

You can delete individual dogs and encounters in the app. When cloud save is active, those changes are included in the next successful cloud sync.

Under Menu → Account and data, you can access controls to delete your cloud save, remove local app data and photos, or delete your Log-a-Dog account and associated data. Account deletion may require you to sign in again.

Deleting a Log-a-Dog account does not delete your Google or Apple account, cancel a store transaction or automatically issue a refund.

Cloud data remains until it is deleted through these controls or an applicable deletion request. Service providers may retain certain transaction, security, backup or legal records under their own retention policies and applicable requirements. Deleting Log-a-Dog records does not necessarily delete analytics or advertising records already processed by those providers.

Security

We use platform access controls and secure network connections to help protect information. No device, network or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

Log-a-Dog is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can investigate and arrange appropriate deletion.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app changes. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent for relevant changes.
